Activities

Connecting the educational world with the stone industry. The findings, learnings and tangible results are being documented and published as well as presented to a wider audience. With events like the yearly CARRARA CAMPUS, the CAMEO association invites the world’s most renowned architects, artists and designers for an exchange to Carrara (IT), the cradle of stone quarrying in the heart of Europe. Cameo also has the goal to help fund research which leads to technological progress enabling or improving a circular (stone) industry towards a more circular economy with tools like Natural Capital Valuations and quantitative circular systems.
Cameo aims to fund sponsoring for the development of personal and business as well as sustainability knowledge. Networks, press work and memberships should encourage online exchange and support member gatherings, recommendations and knowledge transfer in the stone business.

Description

(K)NOT FLYING was born out of an idea at a stone summerschool and emerged as prototype presented at the famous Doppia Firma show in Milan, hosted by Michelangelo Foundation. It plays with perception in a fascinating way, with the contrast of a soft looking marble and a seemingly light balloon, which seems to be lifting and squeezing the stone. The object is merging decor and function in a unique way, capturing the imagination of beholders, and encouraging a change of perspective. Vibrant colors complete the picture, with the bright blue of the cord connecting the rich gold of an Italian classic, Giallo Siena marble and the delicately tinted white glass of the balloon.
